In 2026 the new academic year in the Province of Buenos Aires will begin on March 2 and run for 190 instructional days. The longest break – the winter holidays – is scheduled for July 20‑31. The first part of the academic year falls in March‑July, when key national holidays are observed: the National Memory Day for Truth and Justice, the Day of Veterans and Fallen in the Falklands War, Easter, Labor Day and the Revolution Day. Each of these dates is a statutory holiday. Beginning on June 17, the calendar introduces a movable holiday, the “Immortality Transition” of General Güemes, plus the commemoration of General Belgrano on June 20. July’s Independence Day is on July 9. The official schedule was approved by the General Council of Culture and Education and released by the Ministry of Culture and Education. The year will be fully covered: 190 days of instruction ensure comprehensive learning.
“We carefully considered all important dates so that parents can plan family get‑aways,” the government spokesperson said. The governor confirmed that the new calendar meets educational goals and provides equal opportunities for all schools.
According to the official document, classes start exactly on March 2 and the academic year ends on July 31, giving families ample time for rest and travel.
The announcement came from the Press Center of the General Directorate of Culture and Education, where media representatives confirmed that the changes were fully approved by all council committees. This is the first time the full schedule is published a year in advance of the school term.
